California Proposition 65 Warning: Rack-Straps Products

The following notice is provided pursuant to California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65) for customers purchasing Rack-Straps products for use or delivery in California.

⚠️ WARNING

This product can expose you to chemicals including lead, di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), and other substances known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Which Products Does This Apply To?

This warning applies to Rack-Straps products that contain or may contain the following material types:

  • Steel hardware components (mounting brackets, ratchet mechanisms, J-hooks, D-rings) — may contain trace lead from manufacturing processes, coatings, or plating
  • Rubber or vinyl-coated components — may contain DEHP or other phthalates used in PVC/rubber compounding
  • Polypropylene or nylon webbing — some formulations include stabilizer additives that are listed Prop 65 substances
  • Painted or powder-coated surfaces — coating materials may contain listed substances

Why This Warning Exists

California Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide a warning before knowingly and intentionally exposing anyone to a listed chemical. The list contains over 900 chemicals. The presence of a Prop 65 warning does not necessarily mean a product is unsafe — it means the product contains a listed substance at a level that California requires a warning for. Many standard commercial and industrial products used daily on job sites bear this notice.

Reducing Exposure

To minimize potential chemical exposure when handling Rack-Strap® products:

  • Wash hands thoroughly after handling metal hardware, ratchet mechanisms, and coated components
  • Avoid eating, drinking, or touching your face while installing or handling tie-down hardware
  • Do not cut, grind, or thermally process hardware without appropriate respiratory protection
  • Store products in a clean, dry location away from food and beverages
